Leadership Board
Recruitment Opportunities
We know that creating diverse and inclusive workplaces is a business imperative. The diversity campaigns from Business in the Community work with over 200 of the UK's most significant employers, progressing the opportunities of ethnic minorities and women in the workplace.
The focus of the campaigns is determined via the leadership boards that advise, inspire and challenge the campaigns to work in a pragmatic and practical way that is relevant to both business and society. We are looking to ensure our boards are truly representative of the diverse society we live and work in and to this end we would be delighted to discuss membership of the campaigns and in particular leadership board membership, especially with organisations from the following sectors.
Opportunity Now
- Construction, Housing & Property
- Fast moving Consumer Goods ( FMCG)
- IT
- Manufacturing, Industrials & Engineering
- Oil & Gas Mining
- Recruitment Agencies
- Telecommunications
Please note: The Opportunity Now Board is currently at capacity, but should your organisation be from one of the sectors above, please do contact us to discuss membership.

Is this you?
The leadership boards have a maximum of 20 members and membership is by invitation from the campaign chair. We are striving for representation across sectors and hence at most we have 2 members from each sector . Individual leadership qualities and company commitment are amongst the exemplary characteristics that are sought in leadership board members. A passion for the particular diversity strand is also a pre-requisite as is seniority, board members and senior directors are amongst the management level desired.
Cost and Time Commitments
Leadership board members make an annual contribution of £15,000* as a contribution to the core costs of the campaign and staff. There are usually four board meetings per year and to ensure quality, commitment and continuity, substitutions are not allowed. Membership is public and each member provides a brief profile for the website.
Benefits of leadership board members includes:
- Champion membership of the chosen campaign
- Profile to build your organisational reputation as a top employer
- Publicly demonstrates your personal commitment and leadership on diversity and inclusion
- Positions you internally as a champion of diversity.
* Please note: this figure is for membership of the leadership board of either Opportunity Now or Race for Opportunity
