Awards 2009

Over 450 guests attended the glittering Awards Gala Dinner last night at the Brewery, Chiswell St London.   The evening marked the culmination ot the prestigious Opportunity Now Awards programme, that recognises excellent practice within an organisation to create equal, diverse and inclusive workplaces,  with a particular focus on gender.

Opportunity Now extends the warmest congratulations to all the winners and finalists in each section. The winners and those shortlisted for an award can be viewed at  Awards 2009 or by clicking each individual organisations' link.
Our thanks also go to the Awards Judges all of whom are experts in the field of diversity and to Cherie Booth QC Patron of the Opportunity Now Awards.

Opportunity Now would like to extend its' sincere thanks to Carolyn McCall  OBE, Chief Executive of the Guardian Media Group who stepped down as Chair of the Opportunity Now board at the dinner.  We welcome  Alison Platt Group Development Director, Bupa  into post.
Alison took up her current role at Bupa in 2007 having overseen the sale of Bupa's Hospital business to private equity group, Cinven. Alison had been Chief Operating Officer of that business for the previous three years with full profit, operational and regulatory responsibility for all hospitals across the UK.

" It is heartening to see such strong examples of good practice from our Award winners, particularly given the economic pressures many businesses have faced over the last year. By demonstrating that these important issues remain a priority in difficult times the winners are playing a pivotal role in shaping the future for women. "
Karen Fortunato, Company Secretary and Head of Corporate Services and HR, Abbey - part of the Santander Group.
