Case Study: Flexible Working - Yorkshire Forward
Yorkshire Forward’s flexible working arrangements were developed to remove barriers to working, particularly for those with caring responsibilities who tend to be women. Flexible working is also a key element in the organisation’s recruitment package which attracts a wider and deeper pool of candidates than would otherwise be the case.
Flexible working options include:
- Part-time working
- Job sharing
- Remote working
- Term-time working
- Compressed hours
- Reduced hours
- Annual hours
Achievements/Lessons learned
Since the scheme was introduced 2 years ago, the proportion of women in the workforce has increased to 60%. 15% of staff have formal flexible hours arrangements and staff turnover has been reduced by 3%.
Flexible working arrangements will be reviewed in 2007 along with other HR policies and procedures.
