BT

BT have advocated Supplier Diversity internationally and internally for many years. The role BT have played nationally has helped bring about significant changes in the way public bodies procure goods and services from the private sector.

BT have a model of supplier diversity which is broad: including minority companies in their supply chain, diverse recruitment from hard to reach communities, sponsoring organisations and projects which include those communities, becoming involved in a ground-breaking study with the National Employment Panel (NEP) and ensuring that BT’s own supply chain meets diversity standards in the UK. Furthermore BT suppliers are carefully selected to meet their Sourcing with Human Dignity standards.

Impact:

• In the financial year 2008/2009 BT achieved £20 million spend with minority suppliers.
• The initiative has Board level endorsement with the appointment of a Supplier Diversity Champion and Procurement Specialist.
• BT are London 2012 sponsors and support the supplier diversity aspirations 2012.
