"Goldman Sachs’ diversity recruiting initiatives don’t start and finish on campus"
Through established relationships with a number of pre-university outreach charities Goldman Sachs, works hard to raise aspirations and inspire young students long before they reach university. It is important that all students are aware of the depth and breadth of career opportunities available to a graduate and that we provide strong role models to encourage them to continue their studies beyond compulsory education. Some of these charities include: Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO); Diversity Now; Oxford Access Scheme and African Caribbean Diversity.
Leading on from the variety of open days, university visits, workshops and mentoring relationships organised through our charity partnerships, students have the opportunity to attend one of Goldman Sachs’ two A-level Symposia hosted either by our Firm wide Black Network and Asian Professional Network or one of the eight Divisional Women’s Networks.
The Goldman Sachs A-level Symposia aim to complement the work our partners do in encouraging and supporting university applications. The tailor-made programmes provide interactive sessions to decipher the complexity of our industry, networking opportunities to meet with employees (often from similar backgrounds as themselves) and workshops to develop the soft skills required as they transition to higher education.
In 2006, 450 students attended diversity specific events held at Goldman Sachs, of which 83% of eligible students applied for our internship programme, and 73% of eligible students applied for one of our first year programmes.
