The Employers Charter
Available only to members of Race for Opportunity - the Employers Charter serves to demonstrate your organisations particular committment to workplace diversity and inclusion with a focus on migrant workers.

The Employers Charter and the Best Practice Guide for Employing Migrant Workers are not about your legal obligations towards migrant workers. They help you to promote full workforce engagement, looking at addressing more than basic employment needs and supporting your employees to help them achieve and sustain successful workplace integration. It is worth remembering that migrant workers who are working legally have the same employment rights as any other employee.
The guidelines focus on three key stages of an employment journey:
- Pre-Employment: Aim to have processes and practices in place that are open and accessible in a way that will reach and attract a diverse workforce for your organisation.
- Starting Employment: Aim to welcome migrant workers into your organisation and support them in their new role.
- Continuing Employment: Aim to acknowledge the individual and diverse needs of all employees and promote a pleasant and harmonious working environment.
Business Benefits
Employing migrant workers can be beneficial for both employers and employees in terms of increasing and broadening skills, expertise and knowledge while creating a diverse workforce. Evidence shows that ethnic, linguistic and cultural diversity provides many business benefits, not least in assisting to provide fresh ideas, perspectives and business solutions.
